Yulia Timofeeva: Today we are going to talk about multiculturalism. As for me, this is the theme today in our cultural space is not so extended, not often talk about it. Maybe it's due to the fact that until recently we did not quite understand what we need to do it. Multiculturalism - a policy or even a philosophy aimed at the preservation and development in a particular country and the whole world of cultural differences and cultures, heat 1995 which are considered equal.
The idea arose recently, most Western European countries in the second half of the twentieth century, when a significant influx of immigrants began. With this it was necessary to do something about it, and began to adopt policies heat 1995 of multiculturalism - cooperation and peaceful coexistence of equal cultures. With regard to our territory, then, as we know, in Belarus there was a state that almost always been a multicultural, multiethnic, multykanfesiynyya and carriers of different cultures coexisted peacefully with each other on equal terms. In the USSR, it can be said it was not true. Of course, was declared heat 1995 internationalism, but de facto Russian heat 1995 culture was dominant, and the beginning of perestroika, with some breath of freedom has begun to recover other national cultures, national literatures.
Today, our debate is taking place within the poetry festival, and the conversation will be conducted in this vein, most literary heat 1995 rather than political. So, from the beginning of the rise of national culture, literature has become apparent that there is a conflict between them, in some former Soviet republics came to the blood. We, fortunately, there was no blood, but feel the tension. However, in recent heat 1995 years, the situation seems to have begun to change. It's such a small peragistoryya, and now I will introduce you to our guests.
Dmitry, with you I want to start our conversation, I read in your Facebook, which is also quoted by some media, that a few days ago Russian books and Russian literature in Paris, you said that the Russian-speaking writers in Belarus should support and translate Belarusian- literature. Please tell us more about that.
Dmitry Strotsev: I must say that doing here in Minsk project, which was named the Minsk School. First, in his attention were Russian-speaking poets nonconformists 70s - 80s. Such was the fate of these authors that before perestroika, they were not published because they were uncensored, and after restructuring, they were outside the context heat 1995 of national revival of Belarusian literature. Since these are my friends and teachers, I found that you need to remember them, you need to say about them, it is necessary to provide them. But when I started to, I realized that it is impossible to consider them separately, because doing, for example, Alexei Zhdanov, I realized that he had the archive contains translations Ales Ryazanov. Kim Khadeev and Gregory Trestman write a series of articles for the "Friendship of Peoples", a major Moscow magazine, where they engaged in a problem with the translation close languages, with articles on translation of the Belarusian language. That is, they never existed in isolation. Then I wonder why these Belarusian Russian-language poets of Minsk mostly Jews? It turns out that they - the heirs of the tradition, in Yiddish literature, poetry, which was presented here in Minsk, Belarus completely full on an equal footing with other literatures, because Yiddish was one of the official languages.
That is, willy-nilly, I face the challenge of Belarus Minsk multiculturalism. But I see the current situation, I see a total presence of the Russian language, Russian culture in Belarus as a legacy of the Soviet era. And I see that the current political situation does not change the current situation. I can not change the order of the state and what sort of setup, but as an artist I can somehow act. I understand that next to me, with my friends, Belarusian heat 1995 Russian-speaking poets, Belarusian-language poets are, we, Russian-speaking, can be translated into Russian, can testify abroad that the modern Belarusian literature - bright, interesting, lively, made. But it seems that this is not the only problem, a lot of problems. Naturally, a few days ago Russian books and Russian literature in Paris, I spoke to a different heat 1995 audience and a different focus their performance. But that's heat 1995 about
