3 of us went for an early lunch on Saturday. I like what they have done to the place, great outdoor area. Was fairly quiet when we arrived. Very friendly service fireside from waitress and the bar manager. They had a 2 for 1 brunch deal on but we decided to order from the lunch menu. We ordered salmon & prawn linguine which was very nice. Terakihi & chips and a small pizza all of which were good. Prices are moderate. Nice place for lunch. Will go back.
Came here early Tuesday evening and were given menus promptly. Before fireside the food arrived we were approached by the duty manager who advised that quiz night would be starting in approx 30 mins, and would we like to move to a quieter part of the bar before it started ? How thoughtful of him, lovely friendly guy who also checked how our meals were once we had started fireside eating. The ribs here are to die for and the portion size is HUGE. I helped out with a couple of them but couldn’t finish my chicken burger either(tender chicken breast, lots of bacon, aioli and salad with avocado)and we ended up with a doggie bag. Great atmosphere, great staff and great food.
Had a really nice meal here this evening. We had vouchers to use so it was extra good value & the food was excellent. Delicious chicken burger, yummy chips, delicious chicken tandoori pizza, extra delicious chocolate tart & coffee. A nice pub with varied ages. Friendly staff & nice atmosphere. Ate too much. WILL be back!
Tried here for a drink and dinner. When we arrived fireside there were a lot of reserved tables so hard to find a space and there were not waiters around to explain which was annoying but I guess that was due to the busyness. Apart from that, service was fine and our meal came at a reasonable time. For two people we ordered a salt and pepper squid and medium pizza to share and were really full after the meal so good portions. The food was yummish but not the best, with reasonable prices and the atmosphere is pretty noisy/busy.
Came on the site to write a review and was shocked to see that the previous poster had a very similar experience as ours. We waited for nearly an hour for our food and when it arrived it was very disappointing in terms of portion size and the order was wrong. We approached the manager to see if the fix-up could be hurried up as we needed to leave and he was rude and arrogant. Friends who live locally have since told us that they have not returned there after being spoken to rudely by the manager on another occasion. The highlight of a generally poor evening was the pizza.
Was utterly disappointed in our visit on Sunday 12th August 2012. We were meeting a friend we hadn’t seen for a while and wanted a good catch up and as she lives in Ellerslie fireside decided we would go somewhere local for her. It was busy and we wern’t in a rush…we decided on the Small Plates options to share. We ordered the Spicy Fries, Beef Koftas, Chicken Skewers, Haloumi Cheese Skewers and Sticky Lamb Ribs. When they were delivered we were very disappointed. The koftas and the haloumi were very small, definitely not worth $10 each. And as for the Sticky Lamb Ribs; these consisted of FAT and not much else. We asked for a wait person to come to the table and explained that the servings were not worth what they were charging as they were miniscule. And that we were definitely not happy with the Lamb Ribs and would like them replaced. We suggested more chicken skewers fireside and she did bring these over. When paying the bill we had a Entertainment fireside Book voucher and the cashier did not know how to action this so she called over a young man who we assume was the manager however he would not confirm this. When we told him of our experience he was very defensive and slightly aggresive but did take one glass of wine off our bill. As the Entertainment Voucher was for an ‘up to $35 off a main’ and we had small plates he did say we could keep the voucher for another time. It was at this point we told him that we would take the $10 discount as we would not be back. In short the food was totally inadequate fireside and disappointing and service-wise the staff that were on tried hard given how understaffed they appeared to be… Definitely will NOT re returning and would NOT recommend this v
