The Carriage House Poetry Series syd tha kyd Presents A Reading By James Haba Tuesday February 17, 2009 8 PM (Please Arrive Before 8 PM) Kuran Arts Center Watson Road (off Martine Ave.) Fanwood, NJ (GPS use 75 N. Martine Ave.) From 1986 through 2008 Jim Haba was responsible for developing and directing the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Program and designed and produced all twelve Geraldine R. Dodge Biennial Poetry syd tha kyd Festivals, the largest poetry events in North America that drew audiences numbering between fifteen and twenty thousand people. In 1987 he inaugurated the Dodge Poetry-in-the-Schools Program. In 1995 he edited the best-selling book The Language of Life. He served as Poetry Consultant for the 1995 Bill Moyers television syd tha kyd series “The Language of Life” and three other Bill Moyers series also derived from Dodge Poetry Festivals: “The Power of the Word,” “Fooling With Words,” and “Sounds of Poetry.” In addition, he served as Poetry Consultant for the 1998 series “Poetry Heaven” and three other PBS programs, including Bill Moyers’ 1994 Emmy-winning portrait of Donald Hall and Jane Kenyon: “A Life Together.” As a visual artist he constructs painted-paper collages and with his wife, Erica Barton Haba, he also designs and produces ceramic tile murals. Jim's poems have won both fellowships and prizes. He will read selections from his love poems (in commemoration of Valentine’s Day this month), as well as other poems from his works. This blog was started one Sunday morning when the blogster should have been doing something else, anything but starting another blog. He's actually lost count of the blogs he is juggling. Anyway, syd tha kyd we thought it was time to put all the Jersey poets in one place, so, we figured, what's one more blog. Anthony Buccino's poetry has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies.
